Menifee FT/Day RNFA

DEFINITION

Under direction, to render direct patient care as part of the perioperative role by assisting the surgeon in the surgical treatment of the patient and to do other work as required. Receives general direction from the Clinical Nurse Manager. May serve as a lead person of one or more employees performing similar work.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is a single position class in which the incumbent’s responsibility of functioning must be based on the documented knowledge and skills acquired after specialized preparation, format, and instruction and supervised practice.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Guidelines

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education

Possession of Associate Degree in health science or related field from an accredited college or university. Successful completion of didactics structured course on first assisting. Validation of necessary clinical skills by an approved internship with surgeon mentors.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse in multidisciplinary Operating Room. Proficiency in scrub and circulating roles. Experience as an RNFA preferred.

Licensure/Certification

*Possession of a current California RN license

*ACLS Certification

*CNOR Certification

*RNFA course certificate of completion

Credentialing & Privileging process

PHH, Inc. will ensure that advanced practice registered nurses who practice within the hospital are credentialed and privileged and reprivileged through a developed process, which at the minimum does the following:

• Evaluates the applicant’s credentials

• Evaluates the applicant’s current competencies.

• Includes peer recommendations.

• Involves communication with and input from individuals and committees, including the Medical Staff Executive Committee, in order to make an informed decision regarding the applicant’s request for privileges.
